Is Coaching for You?

Simply put. The answer is yes! I firmly believe that everyone needs a coach, including me! That’s right, even coaches need coaches.

Why? Because partnering with a coach will help you gain a fresh perspective on current challenges, will empower you to step out of your comfort zone, will help you stay accountable to goals you set for yourself, and will allow you to feel supported during every step of your journey.

The coaching process provides:

✔ Sustainable Results

✔ Lasting Change

✔ Support to Thrive

What is Coaching?

Think about it like this: what’s the difference between going for a walk at the local park, or going for a hike in the mountains?

When you go for a walk, you can still access fresh air, clear your head, and can see some amazing things, but your experience may be cluttered by the noises of those around you, or you may be missing out on some spectacular views.

When you go hiking in the mountains, it’s a commitment. It requires equipment, training, and a curiosity to go deeper, To go further, to find yourself. It requires support, planning, hand holding. The joy is as much in the journey, as it is when you reach the summit and are rewarded with views as far as your eyes can see.

As your coach, I will empowers you and challenge you to go deeper, to go further, to find silence, success, and fulfillment. I’ll be there, step by step with you, and I’ll even carry the blanket and the beer so we can take a moment to celebrate when you reach the top.

Coaching is a partnership between you and me, utilizing a thought-provoking and creative process to inspire and motivate you to maximize your personal and professional potential.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

My personal understanding is that coach is forward facing, often hired to help or guide a client towards a goal, through a partnership, where therapy to be focused more on cleansing, doing work to help release energy of the past.  Both are important and necessary at different points, but each requires their own set of skills, as well as different certifications and schooling. I wrote a blog that discusses the difference between coaching and other professions, as well as providing tips on what to look for in a coach here.

Please note: As an ICF accredited coach, I adhere to their strict standards and ethical guidelines, which requires me to refer my client to a therapist or other professional if that is deemed to be a better fit.

What is a certified or accredited coach?

Unfortunately, coaching is an unregulated industry which means that anyone can call themselves a coach.

That said, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals.

To become certified by the ICF, you must attend an accredited program, which includes a required number of hours in a classroom setting, of hands-on-training and practice actually coaching.  You can learn more herehttps://coachfederation.org/.

Are you certified?

Yes, received over 320 training hours from the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), which is accredited under the ICF. I have also accumulated over 1,500 client-facing coaching hours, hold six coaching certifications, and attend regular training and certifications to enhance my skills and knowledge as a coach.

What kind of advice do you give?

I actually don’t give advice!  As a coach, it is my role to hold space for you, ask the right questions, and challenge you to look at things from a different angle. The combination of these three things, is what I like to call coaching magic, which, when combined with the added accountability of partnering with a certified coach, helps you move toward your goals and reach your full potential.  While I will always keep your broader goals in mind, and help you align to those goals if you feel lost, you will ultimately dictate the direction and agenda of each session.

What does a session look like with you?

Sessions are typically 45-minutes and can take many forms.  I love starting off by celebrating whatever milestones you have hit since the last session, addressing anything that has come up between sessions, and then asking you what you would like to accomplish in the current session.  From there, we dive into coaching magic, before wrapping up with a discussion around new insights you gained and a plan of how you will incorporate what you learned moving forward.

Also, all sessions are held via zoom video, and I encourage you to show up in a way that is authentic and comfortable for you! While clothes are required, makeup is not. For me, that typically means showing up in a hoodie and a messy bun.

What assessments do you offer?

I offer four assessments, the first three of which are required for all new clients.

  1. The Energy Leadership Index (ELI) ™, created and administered by iPEC Coaching, is a top-rated personal growth assessment by Forbes ™. It helps level your perception, and with that information, allows us to discuss in great detail how you show up in your optimal state, how you show up when stressed, what some of your greatest strengths are, and what may be holding you back in reaching your potential!

  2. The CliftonStrengths Assessment, created and administered by Gallup, helps my clients focus on what’s right with them, rather than on what’s wrong! This assessment, among other things, allows my clients to discover what they naturally do best, learn how to develop their greatest talents into strengths and maximize their potential for success. Additionally, my clients and I use this tool to assess what additional skills may need to be developed to get to the next level of their career and for insights as it relates to developing strategies to improve time and energy management.

  3. The Saboteurs Assessment, created and administered by Positive Intelligence, helps my clients become aware of the learned behaviors that they most often default to in situations where they are stressed, or in otherwise uncomfortable situations. While my clients are often aware of these behaviors, this assessment and the related coaching discussions empower my clients to disassociate the behaviors from their personality and learn new behaviors that better serve them, and their long-term goals.

  4. The SCOPE Assessment, created and administered by iPEC Coaching, is a task-specific assessment that helps you understand your potential for success as it relates to a specific performance. It provides three key ingredients to help you create your personal success formula. While I typically lead my clients through this assessment verbally, there is an app that can guide my clients through this exercise on their own time.

Why should I trust you?

I am a compassionate, caring and empathetic person who truly wants what is best for my clients. As a certified coach I will always put you and your agenda first. I believe that the coaching/client relationship should be a safe space, and I enter each session with curiosity and leave all judgment at the proverbial door. I truly believe and honor that every client is exactly where they need to be on their journey, there are no such things as mistakes, and that each and every opportunity gives us the choice to decide who we want to become. I also believe that everyone I meet is both my teacher and my student, so my curiosity and non-judgment allows me to learn from you as well!

Also, please note, as a certified coach, I am ethically responsible to hold your agenda and keep all conversations strictly confidential, with the following three exceptions:

  • If I have reason to believe that you will hurt yourself or others, I am required to report this to the authorities.

  • Coaching scenarios may be shared with other coaches for training purposes, but your name and contact information will not be provided. Name and details will also be changed to protect your privacy in these cases.

  • Basic contact information (name, email address and number of hours coached) is shared with the ICF for credential requirements. Details of conversations are never shared with the ICF. Clients can also opt-out of having me share this information.

How do I know coaching works?

Coaching is a process.  A lot happens and can be uncovered during a session, however, the magic often happens between sessions. It’s all about showing up, doing the work, and acknowledging why you may be afraid to doing the work.

What guarantees do I have that it will work for me?

There are no guarantees.  If you show up, are accountable, and are willing to stretch outside of your comfort zone, though, magic can happen.

How do I know we will work well together?

I offer a 45 minute strategy session. You can book yours here.  During this call, you can feel free to ask me any questions about my style and about how coaching will help you.  We will also get to know each other. Coaching is not just a financial investment, but a personal and emotional one, so I want to ensure that my potential clients feel incredibly comfortable with me before we proceed with a package.

What’s the difference between you and others ?

There are different types of coaches for different goals.  Each coach comes with a different depth of knowledge. Finding the right coach for you will be critical to your success.

I am truly passionate about helping my clients to become confident leaders, in business and in their own lives, by prioritizing their values and unleashing the most authentic version of themselves. My expertise and training are in Mindset and Energy Leadership Coaching, with a specialty in time, stress and energy management. My training and experience allow me to partner with my clients to look deep within, challenge previous assumptions, break down energy blocks, and help them become fearless and authentic leaders.

Through my own personal experience, and in partnering with my clients, I have learned that many leaders feel out of alignment with their core values; living and leading by rules that have been effectively defined by their experiences, and how they’ve been told to “play the game.”

Feeling pressured to operate under an outdated system can work against you. It can leave you feeling discouraged, frustrated, drained, unmotivated, and uninspired–despite the fact that you also feel ambitious, driven, and desirous of success.

My approach to coaching encourages my clients to challenge these rules, systems, and old-guard metrics for success, and to redefine success and craft new systems and playbooks that empower them to lead with confidence and embrace the human side of leadership, by taking into account the things that motivate and inspire our teams to go above and beyond to achieve exceptional results.

  • Empowering team members to authentically drive solutions, interact with coworkers, and feel confident bringing new ideas to the table.

  • Understanding the impact stress can have on leaders, as well as employees, and tapping into more balanced energy levels that allow everyone to be more successful.

  • Building trust across all levels of the organization, ultimately encouraging autonomy, professional development, and increased engagement and employee retention.

At the end of the day, while I can’t promise results, I can promise to show up authentically and help you embrace and implement the human side of leadership. Together, we can blaze a new trail, conquer uncharted territory, rewrite the rulebook, and reignite your passion for success.
